CENTURION CHORAL SOCIETY
Applications have opened for the Centurion Choir Society. Learners from grade 4 to 12 from the Centurion area will be able to apply for one of the 80 – 90 positions that are available in the Centurion Children’s Choir and Centurion Youth Choir. (160 – 180 positions available!) Applications close on 31 July 2011. Any interested learner may apply, although choir experience will be an advantage, but not essential.
These choirs will be a first for the Centurion community. We will be auditioning talent around the Centurion area and once the selection is made, the selected learners will be able to perform their part, in which will be, two of the most prestigious choirs in the country. Auditions will be held from
1 – 30 August 2011. Audition venues will be announced closer to the time.
The Centurion Children’s and Youth Choirs will be a first community multi-cultural choir that will recruit both girls and boys to form part of a permanent choir academy and the goals have been set at a very high level.
Vision:
To establish the following choirs in Centurion that is truly representative of all cultures that will produce a unique South African sound, that will represent the community around the country and world, that will be the benchmark of quality choral music, quality education, and goodwill between its people.
Establishing a various Centurion Choirs consisting of primary, high school learners from grade 4 to grade 12 and adults from all corners of Centurion, giving them high quality music training as well as a love for choral singing and a sense of commitment towards each other and their community.

The goals:
SHORT TERM:
• To establish the choirs within the next 6 months after 31 July 2011
• To undertake a national tour by the end of 2012
MEDIUM TERM
• To undertake an international tour in 2013
• To take part in various national and international choir festivals and competitions 2013
• To take part in the next Choir Olympics in 2014
LONG TERM
• To become two of the most acclaimed choirs in South Africa
• To become the most sought after choir in South Africa by 2014
The choirs will undertake national tours during the next year and will then undertake an international tour in 2013. In addition to voice training, the learners will also be encouraged to participate in conductor courses to ensure that we are making provision for the future.

Agni Dei A-Men Choir
The Centurion Choral Society Choirs will be conducted by Riaan Vorster, member of the Executive Board of the South African Choral Society, and previous conductor of the Centurion High School Girls and Mixed Choir, Centurion Children’s and youth Choir, as well as the Cresta College Primary and Secondary Choirs.
The application process is open to all Centurion residents, with and without prior choir experience. The primary focus will be to identify talent and then to perfect their skills within the Centurion Choir Society. Applications will close on 31 July 2011
